Cars are like little rolling living rooms. They’re upholstered, climate-controlled and surrounded by picture windows. They have music. Volunteering to drive is sitting on the seat and talking to the person you are helping. It is personal, rewarding and easy to do.

Thank you for your interest in becoming a volunteer driver! Your generosity and willingness to help your community makes a real difference.
Right now, we’re building the foundation to connect volunteers like you with nonprofit transportation providers across the country. Every day, older adults and people with mobility challenges struggle to access essential services simply because they lack transportation. Volunteer drivers are the key to ensuring they can reach medical appointments, grocery stores, and social activities—helping them stay independent and connected in their communities.
America’s Volunteer Driver Center will officially open for volunteer drivers in early 2026 once we complete recruiting nonprofit transportation providers to join the platform. This is a two-part equation: we’re actively working to ensure there are enough providers to match every volunteer with a meaningful driving opportunity.
We appreciate your patience as we work toward this goal. By the end of 2025, we anticipate having enough nonprofit providers in place to begin matching volunteers in early 2026. In the meantime, we’ll stay in touch with updates and opportunities to stay engaged.
