ABOUT ITNAmerica
ITNAmerica – A national solution for a national need
Founded in 1995, ITNAmerica is the nation’s first and only national nonprofit transportation network dedicated to serving older adults and people with mobility challenges. We support sustainable, community-based transportation by leading a national transportation network grounded in research, policy analysis, technology and education.
America’s Volunteer Driver Center is ITNAmerica’s newest program. Through three decades of experience and over 1.5 million rides logged, ITNAmerica realized that, with the aging of the population, the need for transportation was growing faster than nonprofit services could accommodate all of the older adults who need rides. The answer is more rides, more volunteers, more transportation services, and a public information campaign to make them all happen by changing the way Americans think about and support transportation for older adults and people with mobility challenges—America’s Volunteer Driver Center was born.

We make this connection through a national public information campaign and by introducing volunteer drivers to local nonprofit transportation providers
ITNAmerica supports several programs in addition to America’s Volunteer Driver Center
Rides in Sight – The only national database on transportation services for older adults and people with mobility challenges. It is continuously updated, searchable, online, and offers a toll-free hotline with trained customer service representatives to help people find local transportation for their needs. Rides in Sight also offers an application program interface (API) for organizations that wish to include Rides in Sight on their own website.
Community in the Cloud – Community in the Cloud is ITNAmerica’s training and support site for nonprofit volunteer transportation. The site combines videos, checklists, downloadable templates, and easy to understand explanations to help with everything from forming a steering committee to recruiting volunteer drivers and operating a service.
ITNCountry – ITNAmerica‘s flexible, low-cost program supports nonprofit transportation services of all sizes and in any location. The ITNCountry program uses ITNRides transportation software on the Salesforce platform to manage ride coordination, volunteers, fundraising, community outreach, reporting and billing. ITNCountry also manages ancillary services older adults may need to remain independently in their homes and communities.
Gathering and analyzing data on how people travel, how people volunteer, and the transportation alternatives available to them helps us understand more and more how to provide the best service possible. ITNAmerica gathers data with permission and uses it for social research only. We welcome collaboration with other nonprofit transportation researchers, governments, and university transportation research centers.
